Spaghetti Pie

Here is a recipe we thought would be great to add to our website. It’s one of Derick’s favorites. In fact, his mom brought some of the ingredients here so she could make it for his belated birthday present tonight before she leaves. It’s called Spaghetti Pie.

6 oz (dry) spaghetti noodles

2 eggs, beaten

1/4 C. parmesan (grated)

2 T. butter

1/3 C. onion, chopped

1 C. sour cream

1 lb. sausage (ground turkey or hamburger work too)

1 6 oz. can tomato paste

1 C. water

4 oz. mozzarella cheese (Mexican or cheddar are fine too)

Cook spaghetti, drain. While still warm, combine with eggs and parmesan. Pour into well greased 10″ pie plate, patting up sides. Melt butter, sautΓ© onion till limp. Stir in sour cream and pour over spaghetti. Brown meat, drain. Add tomato paste and water. Simmer 10 min. Spoon on top of sour cream mixture. Add mozzarella to top. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 min.

      1. I am a retired Chef, I would love to send you some great family recipes, if that is okay. I was blessed to have had a mother who was a great cook. If you aren’t accustomed to cooking family meals when you are younger it’s a challenge when you have your own family. If you would enjoy that, I would be more then happy to share some good, healthy, yummy, easy recipes you and your family may enjoy, Rebecca

  4. This is on dinner rotation at least once a month. It’s filling, delicious and economical. I’ve never use sour cream though. Instead, we use cottage cheese (favorite ) or ricotta cheese. My favorite protein is turkey sausage and usually add sauteed spinach with garlic in a deep dish pie plate. This recipe can be used with leftover spaghetti or pasta.as well. Unfortunately, it doesn’t freeze well, but it makes a perfect lunch the next day if there are leftovers! Another favorite is cheeseburger pie – yum!

    1. FWIW- I add kosher salt and fresh ground pepper and add braggs nutritional yest (to most dishes that have cheese) and Italian seasoning. If I use ground beef I chop finely one small onion and prefer low-curd cottage cheese. With modifications its great for a larger group or potluck.

  5. Trying this tonight! We always use plain Greek yogurt as our sour cream. Do you think that would work with this recipe to?

  6. Looks great! I make a version of this which is also a family favorite. May I suggest adding fresh garlic and basil and Italian seasoning. I use cottage cheese in place of the sour cream and it’s delicious!
