Sloppy Joe’s

This is an easy, 5 ingredient recipe that is sure to please! I like to make this ahead of time and keep it warm in the crockpot, or make in the dutch oven and keep warm in the oven until we are ready to eat. It’s perfect for an after church meal. I was first introduced to this sloppy joe’s recipe when I was a kid…back when our friends from Mississippi, the Wilsons, would come to visit my family in Arkansas. This recipe would be multiplied several times over and was usually served with a side of party potatoes for a quick lunch to feed a crowd (that crowd usually included 10+ hungry guys coming from a construction job).

makes 6 servings

1 pkg. sweet hawaiian slider buns for serving (hamburger buns or sandwich bread will work too)

Ingredients:

1 pound ground beef or turkey

1/2 C. ketchup

1/2 C. BBQ sauce (we love Sweet Baby Ray’s, but anything will work)

1/2 envelope dry onion soup mix

2 tsp. liquid smoke

Directions: Brown meat, drain of grease. Add all other ingredients, heat through. Serve on buns or sandwich bread. Enjoy!
