December 2018 Pictures and Videos

This December was a little crazy for us, but we were also able to enjoy some rest and relaxation! Derick’s break from school for half the month was filled with parties and spending time together as a family! We enjoyed Christmas parades, an ugly sweater party, a getaway to Branson, MO as a couple, multiple Christmas celebrations, including a trip to Oklahoma to visit family, and lots of other fun memories! Hope you enjoy the pictures and videos!

The boy’s first visit to the dentist!
Family time at the Christmas parade in Derick’s hometown!
One of the kid’s favorite snacks!
Putting up the Christmas tree…finally! lol
Mima tells the Christmas story before opening gifts
We went through advent cards (from @crewandco on Instagram!) every evening from Dec. 1st-24th and read their corresponding story in the “Children’s Storybook Bible.” This is a video of Derick reading the last story to Israel and Sam on Christmas Eve.
Dillard tradition when Derick and Dan were growing up…(and our first time!), read the book, ” ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” and write a note in the family book!
Derick played trumpet as a kid and was in band in high school and marching band in college, so Israel had heard and seen a lot about trumpet, but this was his first time getting to try Papa’s trumpet! He was very excited! (Fun fact: Derick’s dad and paternal grandma also played trumpet!…no pressure boys! ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

  1. Jill & Derrick, Isreal & Sam,

You are a Beautiful Family! Iโ€™m happy to see that you are enjoying life to the fullest. I wish that you were back on the show again. Are you guys living in Arkansas?

Please let your Family know that you all are a Inspiration and Wonderful Family!

    1. Hey,
Thanks. Yes. We are living in Arkansas right now. My hubby is in law school at the University of Arkansas right now. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I love seeing the boys growing and that yโ€™all are doing well , God bless you all thanks for sharing all the updates

  3. Looks like a busy but sweet December. Iโ€™m glad you take the time to keep us informed on what is going on with you all.

  4. Thank you so much for these monthly updates, Jill!! Do you think maybe you could share a few pictures of Joe & Kendra’s little guy? It’s terrible not getting to see Garrett growing up the way we do all of his sweet cousins! <3

  5. such a cute video of derick reading ’twas the night before christmas’ to the boys!! and how awesome is it for derick to now read it! something tells me his dad would be so proud!

could you please give some examples of how you two were able to combine the ‘santa’ part of christmas with the religious. you know, whenever you have different beliefs or upbringings, you usually dont question something like this until you have children! some suggestions on how to combine these two will be helpful to a lot of people.

btw, loved the little tykes nativity set. i never saw this before and now must get one for my grandkids. they’re the same age as your boys.

thank you for continuing to share your lives with us

    1. Hey Darlene,
Yeah, it was so special to get to read the book with our boys! I think we are gonna pass it back and forth between our family and Derick’s brother (Dan) and his family. ๐Ÿ™‚

We do talk about Santa and St. Nick with our boys, but we don’t actually celebrate Santa as is traditional.
We want our main focus to be on Jesus and celebrating his birth. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes! We love it too! Highly recommend it for all little kids! So fun. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Thank you for sharing pics! The ugly sweater party must have been fun and I love the hilarious ensembles your siblings put together. Josiah and Lauren, oh my! Perfect for the newlyweds! Really miss seeing your family on TLC but applaude Derick for sticking with Godโ€™s view. The world is so in love with their sin, no one is willing to admit that gender confusion is a mental condition that should be treated, not indulged. Your boys are adorable and you and Derick look very happy. Love to you in Him!

I was so happy to have found this site and see how the family has grown and changed. I was tickled to see some of the other siblings and changes in their lives as well. Thank you so much for sharing these pictures !

  8. Jill and Derick, I’m so pleased that you take the time and effort to keep us updated as to what’s happening in your lives! The pictures and videos are such a blessing! I’m looking forward to your January blog post! I was wondering, do you all hope to add to your family someday or are you content to be a family of four? <3

    1. Hey Gladys,
Thanks. I’ve gotta round up our January pics and videos, then I’ll get that post made asap.
We would love to add to our family someday if the Lord allows. ๐Ÿ™‚ <3
