We had a fun weekend celebrating Derick’s 31st birthday. We went swimming with “Mima” (Derick’s mom) and Dan & Deena (his brother and his family), then went to a local park for a picnic. A couple days later (on his actual birthday), we got a sitter and went out for a date to Waffle House, one of our new favorite places. Below are some pictures and a video from our weekend of celebrations.

My neighbors like to go on dates to Waffle House too! Haha looks fun. Happy Birthday!
Happy belated birthday Derick! In our home the birthday person gets to choose what they want for dinner. Typically we go out but if money is tight then I make them a special dinner of his or het choice chose. I also make a cake or if the birthday person wants, cupcakes.
Me, I like birthday pie though I love cakes too.
I heard good things about Waffle House. We have several here in AZ but most are in the Phoenix area and we don’t want to drive that far away.
Hello Jill, next time you visit waffle house ask for the $4.00 menu. Makes the budget stretch while still getting to go out.
What?! So great to know! 🙂
Alright, it is two days later, but nevertheless Happy Birthday, Derick! When my daughter was younger, she and some of her Friends always wanted to go to a swimming pool or midget golf or nice film. Of course there was a birthday cake. Later, as she became older, diner in a restaurant ( chinese) , followed by a concert or theatre!
I have a smile on my face now, such lovely memories
We live birthdays, if it is one of the kids we usually try to plan around something they ask for or want. Next week our daughter turns 16 and we are going to suprise her and take her to get her ears pierced then a nice dinner out together at her favorite place. For my husband’s birthday at the end of the month we almost always have a date night and cake at home with the kids.
Happy birthday! So this is unrelated but I had a few questions on being a missionary to Central America. We are prepping to go to Costa Rica as missionaries. I was wondering how it was while you were there? I was also wondering what you did to prepare. Also if you don’t mind answering I’m wondering why you didn’t go back?
Thank you!!
Nicole, I was wondering if international travel will even be possible now with the Coronavirus pandemic. If you are able to go please stay safe.
Thank you for your concern, we do not plan on leaving until January
