I Got My Hair Chopped Off

So…I usually get my hair trimmed twice a year and it was getting to be that time of year. I wanted to get a little more cut off than I did last time and wanted to get it done soon because it was getting to be hard to manage, the boys were getting tangled in it, I was sitting on it and the weight was contributing to headaches! I got to thinking about it and got excited thinking that if I got a little bit more taken off then I’d have enough to donate to an organization that makes free wigs for people who have lost their hair.

The friend who used to cut my hair moved away, so I spent some time looking up reviews for salons in the area we live in now and found one I thought I liked with good reviews (B. Lush if you’re from this area). I messaged them and they were able to get me in that evening (thanks Nikki)!

When looking at different organizations to donate to, most require 8-12 inches. I ended up getting about 14 inches (some layers in there too) cut off, plus whatever was cut off additionally after that to even things up and add some layers. I love it and it felt so much lighter right away! It had gotten so hard to manage that I was wearing it up most of the time, so I’m looking forward to being able to wear it down more now!

I’d like to donate my hair to be used in a wig for kids or people who have lost their hair, like my mother-in-law when she was battling cancer over five years ago. I’ve seen that there are several organizations who take hair donations and make wigs free of charge for people who have lost their hair and I look forward to donating mine to one of these…I just don’t know which one yet!

If you have any helpful suggestions or recommendations for organizations to donate to please drop them in the comments section below! Or if you’ve donated in the past, or been a recipient of a gifted wig, I’d love to hear your thoughts! I’ve heard it takes anywhere from 12-20 donations (depends on the organization and the people donating) to make one wig! That’s a lot of love and teamwork!

Fun fact: I didn’t have my hair trimmed for the first time until I was about 14 years old and haven’t had more than 4-6 inches taken off until this week.

          1. We have done both locks of love and wigs for kids. Locks of love charges outrageously for the wigs. So wigs for kids is our go to ❤️ we do this with mine and my girls hair every few years. Love the new style you look stunning.

          2. My daughter is a survivor of childhood brain cancer. We donate to wigs for kids because it is free for children who are going down this journey. It hits home Everytime isee her getting it cut to donate.

        1. Jennifer Middleton

Yes!! I just donated my hair to Children with hair loss after watching and checking them out for a year. Wonderful organization!

      1. Do Wigs for Kids! I’ve donated my hair twice. DO NOT do Locks of Love because their wigs are not free to cancer patients. They are charged based on a sliding scale. I was so disappointed when I heard that! My first donation was through Pantene Beautiful Lengths and the second was Wigs for Kids! I like Wigs for Kids because they send updates and show you where your hair goes. I love it! Shorter hair suits you.

      2. Go with Pantene, they don’t charge like Locks of Love. It looks so pretty and fun now! Good for you! That can be scary, I don’t blame you! 🙂

      3. Wings for kids and pantene both are great options and to the best of my knowledge dont charge like some other organizations

      1. Wifs For Kids our Children With Hairloss are both fantastic organizations! Locks of Love is the most popular but they charge their clients for the donated hair. I believe Children With Hairloss will even take grey and died hair!

        1. PLEASE not Locks of Love. They end up selling most of their donated hair commercially. PANTENE is a great organization who donates all of their wigs free of charge. Wigs for Kids is another great organization.

      2. I donated mine to locks of Love but then found out they sell the wigs they make out of them so won’t be using them anymore. The point is to help people out not make money out of them so be careful and get really informed because I didn’t do my homework

      3. I 2nd children with hair loss! We have one in monroe, michigan. They never charge any customer for their wiga. I donate to them once a year. My oldest has donated to them twice. No requirement on length! If need more information let me know.

      1. Don’t use Locks of Love. They advertise themselves as a charity when in reality they’ll use some of the hair for hair extensions. I like to use Childrens with Hair Loss. They make wigs for kids with cancer and other hair loss conditions.

      2. Children with Hair Loss! My sister got her wig from there when she lost all of her hair and it made such a difference to her. Great organization

      3. Children with hairloss is a wonderful organization that provides wigs for kids for free. You just need to put it in an envelope and send it in. They are located near my home in Michigan. I’ve volunteered there sorting the hair it was so great seeing everything from a tiny little girl pony being donated to one such as yours❤️. I highly recommend them.

        http://childrenwithhairloss.us/

    1. They actually do not. They make weighs fire children with permanent hair loss, like alopecia, but they do not make free weighs for chicagoan going through cancer treatments who will one day regrow hair.

      1. I should not try to type on my phone. They make wigs for… they do not make free wigs for children who will regrow hair.

    2. Not Locks of Love, they make kids pay for wigs. It’s bad enough not having hair ( I know had cancer) but to have to pay is sometimes hard on the family.

    3. Please do NOT donate there… they charge families based on their income…. please donate to wigs4kids or Pantene….

    4. I use Children with Hair Loss. They make wigs for kids at no charge. Pantenes Great Lengths will give wigs to women too. Locks of Love charges people so I won’t donate to them again.

    5. Wigs for kids! Lock of loves charge their patients for the wigs. My son donated around two 16″ pony tails and two 18″ pony tails!

      Love the new look!

    6. No, Locks of Love throw away a lot of hair and change people dhir them. Do not use them. Wigs for kids or Pantene wigs for kids are best.

    7. Donate to wigs for kids !! They donate the wigs to kids without hair unlike locks I’d love who sells them. Donate to wigs for kids for sure !!!

    8. They charge for their wigs. There are organizations that don’t charge cancer patients. I like the idea of not charging because they’re going through enough with the cancer.

    9. I have 3 thick bundles of hair that I was ready to donate to locks of Love when a friend said they had sent hair to lock of love & later found out u donate hair & they sell the wigs.. cancer patients have to buy them?! I would feel very cheated if I give thinking a child will receive a wig & later find out they have to pay for them. Some say Pantene is a trustworthy place to send ur hair but I haven’t done any research on them.by the way ur hair look so healthy after the cut & I would definitely not go shorter then that.. I have a thyroid disease & struggle with hair loss & always admire girls with long locks
      ~Betty

    1. Please don’t donate to Locks of Love. They don’t make wigs for cancer patients, they waste a bunch of hair, and they charge. Donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths instead.

  1. Wigs for kids…..just please dont do locks of love, they charge for their wigs. Wigs for kids does not charge. Pantene great lengths is another one that does not charge for wigs

    1. Children with hair loss is the organization I choose when I donated my hair. I choose this organization because the wigs are completely FREE for the children. Other organizations charge for the wigs. I don’t feel this isnt right, especially when the person battling cancer or something else doesn’t need to worry about that charge. People donate their hair to help someone in need and to bring a smile to their face. I feel Children with Hair loss really does that!

      1. I 2nd children with hair loss! We have one in monroe, michigan. They never charge any customer for their wiga. I donate to them once a year. My oldest has donated to them twice. No requirement on length! If need more information let me know.

    2. Pantene or Wigs for Kids. Please do not donate to Locks of Love. They do not donate wigs to kids with cancer. They sell their wigs.

    1. My brother donates to Locks of Love but I have heard they charge for their wigs. A few months ago I suggested you cut some of your hair and your fans were not nice. You look beautiful.

  2. I’ve donated my hair 3 times. Once to Locks of Love (I regret that) and the past 2 times to Wigs 4 Kids. I highly, highly suggest Wigs 4 Kids.

  3. Locks of Love will charge a fee for wigs made with certain hair colors (like red)
When I donated, around 4 years ago, my donation went to Wigs For Kids

    1. I’ve donated my hair twice. Once to Locks of Love and once to Wigs for Kids. I later found out that Locks of Love charges their recipients for the wigs but Wigs for Kids doesn’t. Wigs for Kids even sent me an email that kind of showed the process of what they do with the hair!

    2. Wigs For Kids is a great organization. You can even donate in the name of a loved one. My youngest daughter has donated her hair there too! Your new hair looks beautiful! Great job!

    3. I second this organization! I’ve donated to locks of love and Pantene before, but after reading up on CWHL I won’t ever donate anywhere else

  4. My daughter has donated her hair twice (she’s 10) and we have sent it to Children With Hair Loss both times. It’s a great organization that doesn’t charge the recipients for their wigs. Your hair looks great!

    1. I have donated a total of three feet of hair over the years to Pantenes 8or8. Either eight inches of hair of $8 in cash. They GIVE wigs to children with cancer opposed to selling them like Locks of Love.

    2. I’ve donated in the past to children with hair loss, they are a wonderful organization that don’t charge anything for their wigs! You look beautiful by the way!
P.s please don’t donate to locks of love, they charge for their wigs.

      1. I’ve donated 6 times and the first two were locks of love (don’t donate there!) and the others were to children with hair loss! They send you a certificate in the mail and everything! I also send a check to help cover some of the cost of the wigs 🙂 it takes about $1000 to make one wig!

      1. Your hair looks so cute! Love it! Our daughter gets her hair cut every other year to donate. We donate to Children With Hair Loss. They seem to be the best place in the US to donate as they give their recipients wigs and the children qualify for a new hair piece or wig every year until they’re 21!!! No charge at all to the recipient!! Isn’t that amazing?! We just cut her hair for her donation last week, 10 inches ♥️ God bless you and your family and Merry Christmas!

        http://www.childrenwithhairloss.us

      2. I donated 2 years ago in the Netherlands, also to a foundation where they make wigs for kids. I’m almost ready for my second donation. Your hear looks great!

  5. Jill look at Pantene shampoo brand…. I think they do wigs from real hair also but do not charge their clients….

By the way…. the new style looks amazing! I know how much lighter it must feel.

    1. I too donated to Pantene and last year (December 2018) was there last year to except donations, according to the letter of thanks they sent me. It said they have so much hair to make wigs for like 10 years!

  6. I always donate to Children with Hair Loss. They provide hair replacements at NO COST to children and young adults facing medically related hair loss. Thank you for donating ❤️

  7. My 15 year old donated her hair every 2 years, we always donate to Wigs for kids (www.wigsforkids.org). We like that they do children only. Hope you find one that does what they say and not sell the donations. Good luck. Beautiful cut on you, it looks great.

  8. Children with Hair Loss is a great organization! They do cancer patients, as well as children with alopecia. You look great!!

  9. My girls donate their hair to Children with Hair Loss. My oldest (16 years old) has donated twice and my youngest (7 years old) just donated her hair. Your hair looks fabulous.

  10. Locks of love is a great organization to donate to! My sister has done it a bunch of times. Your hair looks so good!!!!

  11. So beautiful! I donate my hair to Pantene Pro-V Beautiful Lengths. They do not charge for their wings like some other organizations do.

  12. I just chopped 14 in off mine last week! I donated to Children With Hair Loss! It super easy. Just google search it fill out the form and ship!

  13. Jill, my daughter has donated 7 times since she was 5 years old. We choose Children with Hairloss because they make wings for FREE for children with various conditions. My daughter Aubree has a cousin Nicole with Alopecia, one donation was for Nicole’s wig, it was super cool. Their organization is amazing.

  14. Donate to wigs for kids. I’ve donated my hair before but to locks of love and I didn’t find out till later that they charge the child. Wigs for kids doesn’t charge.

  15. Children with hair loss is a great organization. I’ve donated there once after I learned that locks for love charges families for wigs.

  16. I have donated my hair in the past to Locks of Love. I received a cute little thank you card in the mail which made me feel good. However I have heard that they actually charge recipients for their wigs, so I’m less inclined to donate to them again. I’ve also heard of another company, Wigs for Kids, that do not charge recipients. My next donation will go there! Your new hair length looks great, by the way!

  17. I’ve donated mine to Pantene Beautiful Lengths a few times now and it’s always been a good experience. I’ve donated to Locks of Love in the past but I’ve since heard that they charge people for the wigs so while their intentions are good, their bottom line isn’t so great.

Your hair looks so cute! Hopefully it won’t take long for you to remember you don’t have to use as much shampoo and conditioner!

  18. Locks of love charges THOUSANDS for a wig! You can send to Martino Cartier salons to wigs of wishes. He does amazing things for cancer patients, and will not take a dime for a wig!! He personally helped my niece during her chapter with cancer. If you need help contacting him, you can contact me

  19. PLEASE donate to Wigs For Kids as they go to ANY CHILD regardless of race or socioeconomic background! Plus their charity is much more fiscally responsible. My daughter and I did a great deal of research when my 5 year old granddaughter wanted to donate 16 inches of her hair to kids with no hair (her words). Wigs For Kids was the best! PS…YOU LOOK LOVELY!!

  20. Jill your hair looks beautiful!!

Pantene Beautiful Locks is where I have sent mine to. Each time I have donated it, I have gone to a different salon (from moving to different states). But at each place, the stylist suggested Pantene beautiful locks. Most people think of locks of love, but both stylists told me they charge the patients for the wigs while Pantene gives them to patients for free.

  21. Please donate to Wigs for Kids. They provide free wigs for children who need them. Be leery of other organizations that charge for the wigs. This is a good look on you!!

  22. So cute!, You have to feel 100 pounds lighter, I know I did when I chopped off a good foot of hair many years ago. I love my hair long, just not THAT long. It is so much easier, and it doesn’t get caught in EVERYTHING.

What I really like is how happy you look with it, you look fantastic, nothing like a new “do” to make a girl feel good.

  23. Personally, I grow my hair out for the sole purpose of donating it. I’ve done so for almost 21 years. I highly recommend giving it to Wigs for Kids but they do have some requirements for their donations.

  24. LOVE your hair!!! I’ve donated four times, and I’ve chosen Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths. The wigs go to women with cancer – a cause close to my heart. No matter what you choose it will be such a blessing!! ❤️

  25. When I was in Third Grade I cut 12 inches of my hair. I donated it to Locks of Love. It was very rewarding to know that I was helping someone in need. I believe I got a note from them letting me know that they received my donation and how thankful they were.

  26. Please consider Wigs for Kids. All children are deserving, but Locks of Love provides to
those suffering from Alopecia first, then kids with cancer second. It should be equal consideration, in my opinion. Beautiful, by the way. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  27. I refuse to donate to Wigs for Kids because they charge for their wigs. I cut off about 14 inches 3 years ago. I donated to Beautiful Lengths by Pantene Pro-V. They require 12 inches as well. That’s who I’ll be donating again to in the very near future!

  28. It looks amazing! I just cut 10 inches off of mine and did a ton of research on where is best to send it and CHILDREN WITH HAIR LOSS is the way to go! <3

  29. Your hair looks amazing!

I have donated in the past to Children with Hair loss organization and am planning to do so again in the next few months. After doing research on all the organizations I decided on this one for several reasons and will choose this organization again.

  30. I always donate mine to Children With Hair Loss!!! I love them and they give them for free unlike other places! I’ve donated to them 3 times now and plan to keep doing it!

  31. Children with Hair Loss! We had a family friend receive a wig from them for their 1st trader with alopecia. She said they were amazing to work with and made the whole process very painless.

  32. Wigs for kids, you just send it in the mail and they make a wig for a child in need and don’t charge them a penny for it. It’s a great organization

  33. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the shorter hair on you. I think it makes you look older, more mature. SO not a bad thing, and I love the straight look for you. All you Duggar girls have beautiful hair and curly, straight, long, short you can pull off all of these beautifully.

  34. When I’ve donated in the past I went with Children With Hair Losss. I liked that they didn’t charge the families, and that they would give to terminal patients as well. Such an amazing way to give to others without it costing a thing!

  35. That is awesome, Jill!! Beautiful hair, for a beautiful wig!!

Just an FYI, please refrain from donating to Lock of Love. They don’t treat their clients well at all.

I would personally suggest Children with Hair Loss, having donated and received from them while I went through my battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma 5 years ago). They provide wigs to children and young adults at no cost who are going though medical-related hair loss.
A wonderful company based in Southeast, Michigan!!

  36. I’ve been donating since I was young, and switched to Pantene Beautiful Lengths after Locks for Love started with some questionable practices.

  37. I donated mine to Pantene Beautiful Lengths! They dont charge for the wigs they make – believe it’s mostly women who receive the wigs.

  38. Please do not donate to Locks Of Love, they charge a lot of money to kids with cancer for a wig. I’d find a company that donates wigs.

  39. I did locks of love the first time and then later realized they charged for their wigs. I did Pantene the next time because they don’t charge and will use them again if I donate again!

  40. I love your hair! My daughter who is 11 now donates hers to CHILDREN WITH HAIR LOSS. After researching we found they were one of the only ones who actually gives their wigs away free of charge.

  41. I donated to Pantene in the past. They don’t charge their recipients unlike Locks of Love. Wigs for kids I heard was great as well.

  42. As a hairstylist, I recommend Wigs for Kids because they are not for profit. Locks for love use to be the go to until they went for profit. Your hair looks fabulous!

  43. I think children with hair loss is a wonderful organization. I did a lot of research before donating my hair and I feel they were the best fit. My brother also grows his hair out to donate and we ended up cutting our hair the same day and both donated to this organization.

  44. I have donated my hair 3 times and I recommend Wigs for Kids. I strongly advise you do not donate to Locks of Love because they charge patients for the wigs.

  45. Caring for Kids with Cancer and Pantene are the two that I’ve heard the best about! I personally donated twice to Caring for Kids with Cancer because they don’t charge for their wigs! Locks of Love does charge for their wigs, unfortunately.
Your hair looks beautiful, and I know it feels so much better!! There needs to be more people with healthy hair to donate.

  46. Children with Hair loss!! http://childrenwithhairloss.us/

I have donated my hair to several different places and this has by far been my favorite. One of the few places out there that doesn’t charge the families for the wigs. You will even get a donation certificate mailed to you after your donation.

  47. I HIGHLY recommend “Wigs for Kids” my 12 year old daughter has donated her hair 3 times to them now!!! I picked this organization after doing a lot of research and learning they do NOT charge their clients for the wigs they make. It is a great cause and I think it’s a really wonderful thing that you did!

  48. I have donated my hair to Wigs for kids 3 times. This organization is great! They do not charge for the wigs they give to children. I shy away from Locks of Love because I’ve heard they charge for the wigs.

  49. My 5 year old daughter and I just did this in October and I did a lot of research. The Pantene site said they do not accept donations anymore. I highly recommend Wigs4Kids like many others have suggested. Truly a great organization that doesn’t charge their recipients. Thank you for donating! 🙂

  50. Make sure you do your research a lot of the companies/ non profits are actually corrupt. Definitely don’t send to locks of love. I sent mine to beautiful lengths last time.

  51. Wigs for kids is a good non profit organization that I donated my hair to. Other places can charge up to $2000 to make a wig.. nice haircut! It looks really nice on you.

  52. I have been going to the same girl for 20 years now and my boyfriend donated his hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths…..she said it was the best organization to donate to!

  53. Your hair looks fabulous!

I recommend Pantene Beautiful Lengths. Locks of Love actually sells adult hair and does not use it in their wigs.

  54. It looks great Jill!!!! Just the right length. It was time. It looks like it came back to life and can breathe again. I think you will find it’s more fun and you can do more things with it now. A little color wouldn’t hurt either:) My stepdaughterS hair is just as long as yours was and honestly it just looks bad. I think she donates hers to Locks of Love but I think she may be reconsidering because she heard they support abortion and she doesn’t want to support anything that supports abortion. But I’m not sure about that. Anyway… lots of love to you guys and Merry Christmas.

  55. Hair We Share. It’s amazing. They don’t charge the kids for the wigs and you can pay a donation and track your hair. Then when they produce the wig they send you a picture of what the wig looks like pictures of all the people that donated to make that one wig. It’s an awesome organization!!! Be careful. Many charge the kids and make profit off of their wigs. Love the new cut!!

  56. I’ve donated several times and love giving to wigs for kids. Great clips will cut your hair for free if you give there and give you the envelope and all that to mail it. Aftwr I got married I cut off over 25″. Went from knee length hair to below shoulders.

  57. Children with hair loss!! My daughter and I both have donated our hair there, and they do not charge kids anything! Plus they give wigs for multiple reasons, like alopecia and cancer too.

  58. Pantene Beautiful Lengths! That’s where my daughter donates hers to. Locks of love charges money and at times sells hair. Be sure to check out whomever you donate to.

You look beautiful! Thank you for thanking of donating.

  59. Wigs for Kids is a nonprofit organization that has been serving children suffering from hair loss since 1981. Wigs for Kids depends on monetary and hair donations from generous individuals. Wigs for Kids never charges the families that receive the custom Hair Replacement Systems. They make wigs that kids can wear playing sports and being active kids – that dont fall off!
    https://www.wigsforkids.org/donate-your-hair/

  60. Your cut looks great! I’ve donated my hair 5 times and it’s a great feeling! Since you cut off so much look into wigs for kids or Pantene beautiful lengths! Try to make sure you find an organization that does not charge the individual getting the wig.

  61. You look stunning!!! What a difference it makes on your face!!!
I would suggest to donate it for kids. I’m sure a great wig will come out with your healthy long hair!

  62. Your new hair cut looks great on you. I’ve donated 18 inches of my hair to wigs for kids. I picked wigs for kids because they support children who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy, radiation therapy, Alopecia, Trichotillomania, burns and other medical issues at no cost to children or their families.

  63. Your hair looks so cute . I would donate to any organization that does not charge it’s recipients. The last thing someone suffering from hair loss is worrying about paying for a wig especially if hair loss is due to chemo.

  64. I’ve donated with Wigs of Hope before and love them! I know the missionaries personally. They make wigs for children in cancer hospitals in Guatemala and El Salvador. Along with the wig they also give a gift with a Bible, teacher, you, bracelet etc and share the Gospel with them too. I’ve been there before when the children receive these gifts and it’s awesome. Highly recommend!

  65. Definitely wigs for kids! Your hair looks fabulous that length! Mine is just a tad shorter than that and it’s driving me batty with the length. It’s been almost a year since I got a big cut on it, my mom just trimmed the dead ends off for me last week.

  66. My daughter has donated her hair several times. We donate to Children with Hair Loss. It’s non-profit and supplies wigs, hats, and head wraps to patients up to 21 years old at no charge. And not just cancer patients- any medical condition , like alopecia and burn victims.

  67. Locks of Love charges people for the wigs they make. I always recommend Wigs 4 Kids to my clients! They donate their wigs to kids with cancer. ❤️

  68. Donate to Children With Hair loss!! I have donated to locks of love and Pantene in the past. Pantene no longer accepts donations and locks of love makes their recipients pay for the wings. Children with hair loss gives the wigs away for free!

  69. I’ve donated multiple times to Children With Hair Loss. I liked them because they gift their wigs to clients rather than charging for them like Locks Of Love does. I love the new length!

  70. Jill your hair looks so cute! I love the long look, but you can really pull off the short hair! So suggestion for donation is children with hair loss.

  71. Children with hair loss is a great organization to donate to! I donated 50 inches of hair to them in 10 years. They dont charge anyone among other great things. Check them out for sure!

    1. Jill, it looks great! What a wonderful thing to do…you benefit and so does someone else! I love it, you look beautiful!

  72. I used to donate to locks of Love until I realized they charge for their wigs. The past three times I’ve donated, I’ve donated to wigs for kids!

  73. Pantene Beautiful Lengths! That’s where I always donate to ☺️ Locks of Love has started charging for their wigs so I quit sending mine there.

  74. Hi Jill. I’m sure you are tired and over whelmed with all the comments. I’m a hairstylist in SC and been doing hair for 26 years. I have had clients donate to many different places over the years. I really hadn’t done a lot of research in the past, just thought every one of those organizations would be good. I then started looking it up. Locks of Love does not give the wigs to children for free, even though lots of money is also donated. And these wigs are expensive. I looked into Loreal Hair donations. They give to not only children, but women also. The recipient gets the wig at no cost. I’ve also read that Dove has a program too. Thanks for reading. Oh and your hair looks marvelous.

  75. I did Wigs For Kids, but like everyone else is saying, DO NOT donate to Locks of Love because they charge for their wigs. Children who have cancer shouldn’t have to pay for a wig, they are going through enough the way it is.

  76. I’ve donated to Hair we share. It’s for kids and adults with hair loss. They do anything over 12 inches. They also do ponytail tracking for a donation so you can see who ended up receiving your hair!

  77. Pantene beautiful lengths is what I donate mine to. Reading about them they do not charge any to the recipients of the wigs.

  78. Looks great! I hope my hair hair out and then cut it Everytime a child I know does of cancer and donate it to Wigs For kids in their honor. Great organization that never charges for their wigs.

  79. Wow, I love this! You look soooo adorable! It looks great both straight and curled. I had hair that was as long as your before for most of my life and it got caught in everything, clogged the drain and gave me headaches too. I did a big chop just like yours a few years ago and I do NOT regret it. It’s still plenty long after cutting it and I can wear it down all the time and do so much more with it.

  80. Check out Hair We Share. My 5 year old wanted to donate and we ended up going with them because of their tracking program so she could see the result of her donation!

  81. Children with Hair Loss! I’ve donated to them 4 times. The wigs are free for kids and they donate to all kids, not just kids with cancer.

  82. You look beautiful!! ❤️ I’ve donated to some places in the past (can’t remember exactly where, though). I too cut my hair before because of headaches. Enjoy the cute new haircut!!!

  83. Hi Jill! I have donated my hair twice. First time it was to Locks of Love. After donating, I read that they charge for wigs and I wasn’t pleased with that’. Last month I donated my hair to Children With Hair Loss. They do not charge for their wigs and are a great organization that helps so many kids. Here is their website:
    http://www.childrenwithhairloss.us

They will send you a donation certificate and you can donate in honor of someone. I donated in honor of my mom who has leukemia.

Your new haircut looks great on you!

  84. Looks great! Great way to end the yr & start fresh! ❤️ when my daughter was about 8 we donated almost 12 inches to “Locks of love”.

  85. Wigd for Kids is great! I donated to them myself! Locks of love is one that makes the family pay for the wigs they make. I did some research before I decided to donate. I would definitely suggest Wigs for Kids.

  86. Hands down wigs for kids! I donated 16 inches last year to them. They do not charge families for the wings. Unfortunately, locks of Love DOES charge the families which I personally don’t feel families should worry about a child feeling beautiful AND having the cost to worry about.

  87. Locks of Love only makes wigs for adults with alopecia and they charge a lot for the wigs my girls have donated to Wigs for Kids several times. I have also heard that Pantene has a hair donation program.

  88. The hair we share!! Please look into it. They even send you a photo of the wig and sometimes even on the recipient of the wig with it on!! Locks of love has gone way down hill, and Pantene no longer accepts hair.

  89. Jill, while I almost never comment. I had to stop by and say something. Your growth in adult life has blossomed in the last few years. It’s refreshing to watch you discover yourself and live your adult life-your way. I am proud of the choice you made to cut and donate your hair. You will be able to make a huge difference in someone’s life. Wigs for kids is a fantastic organization.

  90. Please donate to Children with Hair Loss! They don’t charge and they donate to kids with all sorts of hair loss problems, not just cancer patients.

Please don’t do Locks of Love as they charge!

  91. Wigs of Hope.
A missionary family started this organization. The mom, Alicia, sees the hair into wigs/hats for children who have cancer and have lost all of their hair.
She makes them feel beautiful again and let’s them know they are loved by Jesus and not forgotten through her hand sewn wings.
You can look her up on Facebook under WigsofHope
Or their family website has more information on where you can send your hair.

  92. My favorite is with your hair straight and you can also see how really pretty your gorgeous eyes are (maybe you have on less dark liner…whatever. You look so beautiful!

  93. We used the organization Children With Hair Loss and fell in love with their story. They don’t sell hair that they find unusable which was a big attraction for us, and they give children with all types of hair conditions wigs for free until the age of 21.

  94. Hi Jill! Looks great! I donate to a nonprofit called “Children with Hairloss” as they make both full wigs, as well as patches for children with conditions like alopecia. If you want to donate to adults, then check out Pantene Beautiful Lengths… I’ve heard some horror stories about Locks of Love (I used to donate there all the time), but moved to CWH because they do wigs and patches. Hope this helps and thanks for donating!!

  95. I recently donated my hair (about 15 inches worth) to Wigs for Kids. They were great, simple process to send it out and then they sent a confirmation email and postcard when they received the hair.

  96. Jill I miss your family on Counting On. Just did the same chop, thanks for the idea. You look cute with your new style. Rock on!

  97. Hi, Jill! Your new do looks beautiful! A couple of years ago, I donated my long hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths since they do not charge cancer patients for their wigs. I was so happy to do this in honor of my dear Aunt Kim who had metastatic Stage 4 Breast cancer. Blessings to you for looking to help others by donating your hair!

  98. Mae Invernessity

I have watched you grow, Jill, since your family’s first specials many years ago on TLC. 19 Kids and Counting was my favorite show but I do enjoy Counting On now, and I miss you and your family on this show. But, I’m pleased you are posting videos so we can keep up with you, Derick and your adorable boys too! I wanted you to know that I really love your new hairstyle, and I think you will find that it is more versatile than when it was longer. I had long hair, too, but have never once regretted having it cut shorter, and I do hope that you will be as happy with a shorter style as I was! You do look absolutely beautiful, and your three men are rightly proud I’m sure. Take care and have a very Merry Christmas!

  99. Children with Hairloss! I have donated my hair there twice and plan to do one more time. I did a ton of research before I donated the first time. Found out some places will still sell their wigs instead of gifting them. Children with Hairloss was my match! ❤️

  100. Your new cut looks great! I bet it feels fantastic!
And children with hairloss foundation is a great place to donate it to. I’ve done it and will be doing it again!

  101. Hi Jill!

Such a beautiful haircut! It is so wonderful that you want to donate it. I would NOT recommend Locks of Love. They charge the patients thousands of dollars for a wig. I would recommend Wigs for Kids. That is the charity that I did and it was just wonderful. It was so easy to donate and they give the wigs to the patients for free. They never charge them. God Bless!

  102. Children with Hair loss! They are based in Michigan and help any every type of situation for children with hair loss!! Also they don’t make a profit off it! I used them last year!!

  103. I’ve donated my hair twice so far. The first time was to Locks of Love, but sometime after that there was news that Locks of Love were charging recipients for wings instead of for free. I ended up donating to Children With Hair loss organization last time I donated. Your new haircut looks really awesome!

  104. Jill your hair looks lovely. Wishing you,Derick,Israel and Samuel A MERRY CHRISTMAS and A HAPPY<HEALTHY and A BLESSED 2020.

  105. So I donate my hair every 2-3 years to the organization called Children with Hairloss
There instagram is CWHL_ORG and I choose them because they’re wigs are not only free of charge but each child receives a wig 100% free of charge for any medically related Hair loss where as locks of love they have to jump through a lot of hoops and be declared financially disadvantaged by the government. Where children with hair loss doesn’t ask any questions about money, they just ask how it would benefit the child and for a recommendation letter, I hope this helps

  106. I am 14 and I had just gotten my hair cut a couple of weeks ago because i wanted to donate it and i had donated it twice before but this time I donated it to children with hair loss the other two times I’m not sure where i did though. The good thing about children with hair loss is Im almost positive that they don’t charge but you might want to check on that. Also your hair looks really nice.
