Dillards Take The Oregon Trail: Day 9

We road tripped from Arkansas to Oregon (less than 100 miles difference in distance than the actual, historic Oregon Trail)! It took us 3 days to get there (much better than the 4 months or so the pioneers had to endure)! Once in Oregon, we visited lots of friends and saw many places, from Portland to the Seaside & Newport coasts, including Astoria, Eugene and Bend! Then we made the 3 day trek back home, stopping on the way to see some of the actual wagon tracks left by those who took the original Oregon Trail many years ago!
This video captures day 9 of our trip! We leave our friend’s house and head to Eugene, OR to check out the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field, where the US Olympic trials were held this year and see “Pre’s Rock” where the olympic runner, Steve Prefontaine tragically died. Then we drive through the smoky, fire-damaged Willamette National Forest to Bend, OR where we mail some postcards and have lunch at McMenamins. Then we hit the road and stay at the cool “Oregon Trail Inn Motel” in Buhl, ID!
More videos coming soon!

I think it is cool you all got to see the actual wagon tracks. You’ve inspired me to want to explore some of Arizona’s pioneer days!
