Christmas Decorating Problems 2020!
What we thought would be a rather easy process to decorate for Christmas ended up being a humorous and lengthy process! Everyone gets involved in this fun and sentimental video!
Fun facts: Derick grew up getting a real Christmas tree every year with his family while Jill grew up with artificial Christmas trees all but 1 year!
What does Christmas decor look like for you? Do you have a real or artificial tree? Comment below!
I have a real tree in our dining room and an artificial one in the living room!
I bought a Christmas tree from Brylane Home on Amazon! Best Christmas tree ever! It is what I call a pop up tree. It comes fully decorated with lights and everything and goes up in literally five minutes. All you do is attach the legs at the base and two poles together. Then the tree which looks like a giant wreath you attach the spoke located in the center to the pole and then drop it and plug it in. So many friends and family loved our tree they brought their own. I believed I paid less than $100 for the entire thing. We love that it’s easy to assemble and disassemble and very easy to store away when the holidays are done.
Hi Jill, did you make that christmas wreath? I was also wondering how you think your boys are similar and how they are different? How is Derek doing in law school and what will he be doing after?
Lol that’s what it sounds like when hubby is putting the star on top of the tree. We have a real tree in the living room and a artificial tree in the dining room
We actually have both. I grew up with artificial and random ornaments we collected or made. My husband grew up with a real tree with prefect ribbons and ornaments. So, we have both. My artificial tree has pretty ribbons and the real tree has our childhood ornaments. Yeah, we switched it up.
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful family with us! I’m so proud of how hard you two work towards your life goals. Your boys are absolutely adorable lol I hope to see a little girl in the future. God bless you and your lil family. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
I thought the Duggars told us on the TV show that they didn’t decorate for Christmas with a tree, that they kept the holiday focused on Jesus. Now you tell us that Jill had a tree growing up, all but one year? The year they filmed at Christmas??
Hey! So, yeah, growing up all but one year of having Christmas trees we had artificial trees. One year we did have a real tree with roots and all that we planted later when we moved into the “big house.” 🙂 Hope this helps.
Growing up we mostly had live trees but then we started getting artificial trees. I remember one year when I was little we had an aluminum tree. My mom put lights on it and our neighbor came over to see our tree. When he saw the lights ( they weren’t turned on) he told us we can’t have lights on an aluminum tree due to fire hazard. We were disappointed to see the lights come off but the tree was still pretty!
Hi! Just curious: from a biblical viewpoint, how do you guys feel about Santa/what do you tell or not tell your kids about Santa?
Hey Dillards!
Christmas decorating never goes as originally planned in our house. It always takes longer and something typically gets broken. Lol We do like to play Christmas music in the background when we decorate though! We’ve always done an artificial tree. I heard my parents complain about keeping the tree watered and sweeping pine needles too much as a child to try a real tree. I was wondering the same as a poster above, do y’all incorporate Santa at your Christmas? Our children love the elf on the shelf and all things St. Nick related.
Also randomly mentioning that when scrolling past the videos I saw Derrick with long hair in a 2017 video. I completely forgot he ever had long hair! It fit him though! Yall are the cutest couple.
Merry Christmas!
Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
2 Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
Awe, It turned out beautiful. We do artificial!
Merry Christmas!
