Getting Ready For Christmas 2019
We were so excited to finally put up our Christmas decorations for the first time in our new home! Here are some pictures and a video from over the weekend.

Your Christmas decorations are beautiful with the wreath being my favorite. When we lived in California when my girls were little they did a homeschool project selling wreaths through Wreaths of Maine. The company really likes to encourage children to sell and earn money themselves.
We start decorating early December. We have a ton of decorations and ornaments that belonged to my husband’s parents. Many are from the 40s and 50s so they are very special.
For our special traditions we go to Christmas Eve service at our church if everyone is well. Last year the the flu hit me and my middle daughter. Oh were we miserable!
Then we open one gift on Christmas and Christmas Day we open the rest.
We usually have an elderly friend from church over but she got invited already to another church family’s house.
We like to make cookies and this year I might try my new to me cookie press I got from a friend who recently moved. I made peppermint bark last year and it was so yummy!
I’m trying to decide what to cook that day . Are you going to make dinner or will you be at yours or Derick’s house parent’s ? What will be on the menu? I need ideas! Lol
How are you all coping with your first set of holidays without Grandma Mary? I’ll be continuing to pray as I know it’s hard to go through that.
Oh and I’m sure you were a blessing and an encouragement to the young family who spent Thanksgiving with you all. I know it encourages me to practice hospitality especially during the holiday season.

I think you’re Christmas tree looks beautiful and had enough lights I understand if you want even lights/lights on every side but I think it looks ok now too. Maybe it’s because when I was young bigger lights that looks more like candles where in fashion. It’s only been the last couple of years that those smaller lights you use have become more common.
Oh, and I think putting a star in the window is a good idea. Maybe on the inside of the window is easiest? I don’t know

It looks wonderful, guys! My Christmas spirit is in a little bit of short supply this year, unfortunately. My Daddy passed away in February and my Grampa in September. It’s been a tough year, to say the least. 🙁
Becky I’m sorry for the loss of your precious daddy and grandpa. Hold them both dearly in your heart this Christmas.
Is Derick really working on writing a “tell-all” book about your family, Jill!?! If he is then I find that absolutely reprehensible! If there is discourse within the family it should be worked out together, not aired out like dirty laundry!!
Gladys you really shouldn’t believe everything you read on the internet. I doubt very much Derick would do something like that to Jill and her family.
Looks great <3 I haven't put any up this year but I usually do mine a little after Halloween because I just dont think Thanksgiving decorations are that festive lol. Wish you guys would get a show on UP like the bates <3 Miss watching you and maybe they wouldn't be as opposed to you guys being real and having realistic opinions.
