First Thanksgiving In Our New Home

We had a great time celebrating Thanksgiving with some friends in our new, cozy little home. The boys were so excited and, this week, Israel kept asking us how many days were left until Thanksgiving. Last night he could hardly sleep and then today when he woke up he was so excited to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade (a Dillard family tradition) and have friends over for a big “Friendsgiving” lunch and fellowship.
We have so many things to be grateful for everyday and today is a good time to stop and thank the Lord for all of those things, big and small.
What are some of the things you’re most thankful for this year? What are some of your family Thanksgiving traditions? Comment below.
why do you keep showing the boys the derick on santas lap video but they will never get to do that 🙁 and you tell them santa isnt even real…. i dont get it
Hi Jill,
Can you please show us what you did with with bone broth of the left over turkey. . Hope y’all had a joyous Thanksgiving full of joy and laughter!
Nancy
Hey Nancy!
Yeah, so I made a whole bunch of it! I froze it in ziplock bags and will be sharing some with friends and saving the rest to use when I need broth of any kind! 🙂 -Jill
Are you guys having more kids?
Happy late Thanksgiving Jill. Besides the obvious ( family, the Lord blessings etc) I’m thankful for microwaves for cooking those slices of turkey that are still undercooked even though:
1. The unstuffed turkey cooked in the electric roaster from 10:00am – 3:30
2. The instant read thermometer said it was done.
Ask me how I know!
I’m thankful for all of us Christian bloggers because of the way we all encourage each other. I’m even thankful for persistent pests that leave comments because I know that God is still giving them life and my prayer is they will trust in Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
I’m thankful for having a space in my home to pray and read my Bible. The space in a little corner in our walk in closet that is my ” war room”. It’s actually my favorite place to be.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
We’ll see. 😉
Hi, I was just curious—how do you keep the boys from being exposed to things like secular music, immodest clothing, etc while they are watching the Thanksgiving Day parade? Or do you talk with them about it before or after?
I am thankful for my family, my friends, good health, my faith, laughter and everything that puts a smile on my face. This year, I am especially thankful for realizing my vocation. I say “realizing” because my vocation is something I’ve done for many years but just in the last few months, it has really crystallized that it is my purpose in life and it is what I should pursue in service to the Lord, giving Him all the glory.
Hi Jill! I was curious about why you used paper plates when they were very few people eating? Remember that it’s not good for the environment to use paper or plastic plates and it takes all of 10 minutes to wash ceramic plates.
We used disposable plates because after spending most of the day cooking, the last thing we wanted to do was wash dishes in addition to pots and pains, the serving dishes, utensils etc. And remember God is in control so we don’t have to stress out over the environment.
I agree with Regina and Jill did nothing wrong.
Burning fuel isn’t good for the environment either but I bet you don’t walk everywhere.
I am watching older episodes of Counting On (the episode where you are pregnant with #2 and you are just about to leave for Central America again). While I was watching I thought how neat it would be if I could find some recent pictures of Israel so I logged on here and I can’t believe how big Israel is!! He and Samuel are adorable. I enjoyed reading some updates on your family. 🙂
Aww. I’m glad you found the blog! Yes, they’re growing so quickly!
