Favorite Fall Book Reading Time with Papa

Israel and Sam always love book time!  This book is one of our old favorite fall books called, “Picking Apples and Pumpkins,” by Amy and Richard Hutchings.  “Mima” (Derick’s mom, Cathy) got it for us.  It was a book Derick and his brother (Dan) had when they were growing up, so it’s extra special to read with our kids now. 🙂

Our favorite book to read, and we read it every year, is called The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury. It is an excellent book and worth the read.

Oh I used to have that book when my daughters were little. It’s such a sweet book. Jill, do you still have any books from your childhood? Before we moved here to AZ two years ago, my husband had a bunch of books from his childhood. I’m talking first printing of books that are still popular today like The Little Engine That Could. However, they somehow got left in our old house but it doesn’t bother him but it bothers me. I wish I still had some of my books from childhood. Anyway, I believe it’s important to instill a love of reading early on. I appreciate seeing you and Derick doing that with your children.

Another favorite book is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom . It works on the ABC but in a very fun way. Also I saw that you tried the dyed bath water. I’m sorry if it caused you to get so many negative posts. But I hope the boys had fun

Will the boys learn about history? There are heaps of fantastic kids books to choose from. I read every night to my two, and grew up with a wonderful love of them
