Iraqi feast at the Mosque during Ramadan

We always love fellowshipping with our international friends. A couple nights ago, one of my Iraqi friends invited our family to the local Mosque for an Iraqi feast during Ramadan. While Derick was with his friends (men and women have separate sections in the mosque), I hung out with my friends. Here is a little video clip.

Does your religion have certain traditions or celebrations?

Do you like trying food from other countries? What are some of your favorites?

Hi Jill Im glad you had a great time celebrating Ramadaan with your friend. I also celebrate it as well and am the only one out of my sisters that practice it.

      Hey Farhana,
It was my first time to experience the Ramadan celebration and it was pretty cool to see all the different cultures represented at the mosque we were at!

    Jill,
It must be hard to be in a spotlight, always criticized by many. I just wanted to say thank you for not giving up and continuing your ministry! I’m a mother of four, and for the last eight years I’ve felt that my only focus is my own family. I’m at a point now where I want to be engaged more in the community, purposefully engaged, for the sake of the Gospel. It’s encouraging to see you stay very active in the ministry regardless the fact that you have two littles.

      Hey AC,
Thanks for the encouragement. I’m not always the best about it, but try to look for places that are easier to be involved in our community with littles. lol

I ditto AC’s response. I think it’s difficult for Christians in general no matter who we are to live godly lives without being criticized. One of the main reasons I stopped going to the Duggar blog run by your friends because there were too many anti-Christian comments allowed to come through and I had to really try to control my tongue.

Perhaps Derick could write a post about that. It would sure be helpful to many of us who struggle in this area. Thank you Jill and have a blessed holiday weekend.

How fun! As far as eating foods from other countries we love to eat Indian food. I’ve had Thai food and it’s very good.

Coo. I like trying new things too.
Shouldn’t christine women cover their heads too? Saint Mary had a veil on her head.

Jill, I hope you don’t mind if I answer Jumong’s question. I cover my head out of obedience to 1 Corinthians 11:1-15. There are many denominations that practice this including some Baptist churches. I’m the only one in my church who wears a covering. I wear it all the time because I always want to be prepared to pray. Christian churches are divided in this issue sadly.
If you would like more information you can click on my name which will take you to my Google+ account that has my blog and I can answer your questions further as this is Jill’s blog and I don’t want to highjack her post. Have a blessed day!

Jill, this is so great! I hope one day you can join us for Shabbat Dinner (I’m an Orthodox Jew). I love gatheringtogethef people of different faiths around food… it looks like food is something we can ALL agree on!
